For a music teacher

Piano for the Music teacher

Piano for the Music teacher

My sister asked me to make a birthday card for a music teacher.

I wanted to make something suitable for this person who was a stranger to me.

I had never made any other card than the basic fold but I decided to go brave.

I spoiled many sheets of cardstock trying to get the shape and size right.

The music teacher was overwhelmed, so much so that she asked me to do her wedding invitations exactly like it.

I still have not decided because it's just me and the cards would have to be hand cut.

I was really humbled at the response.

Christina says ...

This card is such an unusual design and you have made it really pretty with the addition of the flourish and the flowers on the top.

It must have been somewhat daunting if you have never done this style of card before but well done you for giving it a go.

The result does you proud and I am not surprised that the teacher was delighted with it.

If you do accept the request to make the wedding invitations then give your self lots of time as this can be a mammoth task especially if it is a big wedding with many guests.

And for such a special occasion you will want them to be perfect. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

The Musical Notes
by: Lisa

Hello Dee,
Thank you for your interest. I actually have a tutorial for this card on my blog and the keyboard that I made is available also for download. You can use it freely.

I thought it would be too much to put the tutorial here with all the pictures as well as making the download available so if you go to my blog you can see it all there.

Enjoy!

THE MUSICAL NOTES
by: Dee

Please can you tell me exactly how you made the piano notes and whether you could send me a step by step how to make this card using a roller cutter to make the shape. What size is it?
I'm happy to make a small payment to you for the instructions or a donation to your fav charity.
Thank you
Dee

Piano Card
by: Lisa

Dee,
Thank you! I actually searched again and did not find a die. However, I never thought about the rotary cutter. Now that's a great idea.
Thank you. I will definitely look into that.

GRAND PIANO CARD JUST SO BEAUTIFUL!
by: Dee

This is fabulous you really are so talented with what you did with the piano. If you can't find a die - if you do please let me know if you do... as I would love to find one too.
You did a really beautiful job on this & if you don't find a die how about cutting a template in thick acetate & just use a Rotary Material Cutter - handle that has as round blade that slots in and without too much pressure you can cut loads out with out too much strain - just a thought.
Hugs Dee

For a music teacher - Thank You
by: Lisa

Thank you all everyone! I'm so touched by the support here. Christina, thank you so much.

Edith, I didn't know there was a die. That's great news. I did look around the internet but didn't find one. I would search again for it. Thank you so much for pointing that out.

For a music teacher

Good morning Lisa

What a lovely card you have created. I am not surprised you were asked to do the invitations for her forthcoming wedding.

If you have to cut these by hand and the order is a big one you will feel the strain of the repetitiveness

If it is of help there is a filigree die cut of a piano on the craft market which you could certainly play around with. I am sure the lady in question will be equally as pleased if it is not exactly the same as long as it is a piano. that is of course if you own a die cutting machine.

Good luck!!
