Card for Pearl

Last March I left my job on FMLA due to a severely bad back. I was getting really bored and thought that I would start to send store bought cards to the elderly and sick in my church.

What I do is get our bulletin from Sunday and I send them cards, but Now all these months later I decided early on to make the cards home made.

I made a card for one of the elderly ladies that's been sick for months and delivered it to the hospital to be sent up to her room. She did not want visitors because she was feeling so badly.

I was told by several people after that, she talks about that card all the time. She now has it sitting on her mantel and she looks at it daily.

Well about a month after she came back to church, she came up to me and cried and cried telling me the story of how that card helped her so much.

She said she was terrified for a procedure she had to have, and kept telling her husband and her doctor she was much to scared to have it done. They would schedule it because she really needed to have it done, but she was just so scared she would cancel it every time.

So one evening she got really bad and they were going to take her down for this much needed procedure, she was sitting there praying for strength to let them do it. She was crying and shaking and she said the nurse walked in and said "somebody loves you".

The nurse handed her the card and she opened it, she said the scripture in that card couldn't have been more fitting.

When she told me all this, she was so very thankful, its one of the best things, to know you helped someone with some sort of a struggle and for that, I am very thankful.

Depend on the Lord, Trust him and He will take care of you. Psalm 37:5

Hi Kathy,

Your story really touched my heart! Thank you so much for sharing it. You must be a precious and kind lady to think of others, as you do. You made Pearl's world a better place to be during a very difficult time for her. I think that's pretty AWESOME! We never know how we touch another person's life. I always hope, if I do, it's in a positive way. Enjoy your day. Big Hugs.

Good afternoon Kathy
What a lovely thought and gesture to think of someone else in the manner that you did. It may only be a card but the thought that someone cared made a world of difference to Pearl and probably gave her some strength to go forward.
I hope she is soon feeling well again

What a lovely thought to make a card for a lady who was very poorly. I bet you were thrilled to know that it helped her immensely. Well done and keep up the good work.
